Core Clinical Laboratories

The Jackson Memorial Hospital Core Laboratory provides basic hematology, urinalysis, and basic chemistry clinical laboratory tests. These procedures, which include CBC, basic coagulation tests, urinalysis, pregnancy test, blood gas analysis, glucose, renal, liver, and cardiac biomarkers, therapeutic drug levels, and tests for drugs of abuse are available twenty-four hours/seven-days a week. More specialized tests, including endocrine function tests, hemoglobin A1C and hemoglobin electrophoresis studies, tumor markers, chromatographic and spectrophotometric characterization of drugs of abuse, amniotic fluid testing for hemolytic disease of the newborn and for fetal maturity are also provided during routine (day) work hours. Consultation to clinicians on laboratory support for their clinical activities is also available through this laboratory.

There is a team of pathologists specialized in clinical pathology at the University of Miami. All of them are certified by the American Board of Pathology.
